Office Hours:

Tuesday through Friday: 10 am - 6 pm

 

Teen Rec hours* during the school year (September through June):

Tuesday & Wednesday: 3-6 pm

Thursday: 3-8 pm

Friday: 3-9 pm

 

Teen Rec hours** during the summer (July through August):

Tuesday-Friday: 2-6 pm

 

*The staff locks the doors at the closing time indicated above. Please make sure that you have made arrangements with your child so that they are prepared to leave by the time we close and so that they know where they are supposed to go when they leave the Center.

**We may close early on summer days with very low or no attendance. Please check the door and facebook for early closings.

 

What is your history?

The Elizabethtown Social Center, Inc. was established and endowed in 1939 by Cora Putnam Hale to provide the "greatest good for the greatest number of people". Currently more than 100 of our neighbors, many of them teens between the ages of 12 and 18, use our facilities weekly.

 

How are you funded?

We are funded through Mrs. Hale's endowment, private donations and an occasional grant. Room use fees and activity fees for some of our activities and events offset some of the costs of our programs. Monetary and in-kind donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We receive no public monies for operating expenses.

 

How are you governed?

We are governed in day-to-day operations by an Executive Director. The Director meets monthly with a Board of Directors. A Board of Trustees oversees management of the endowment.

 

What's the facility like?

There are two main buildings on 8 acres, two tennis courts, two pickleball courts, a disc golf course, basketball court, four square, a badminton court, a small playground, a soccer court with a rebound board, and a platform tennis court.

 

What does the Center offer for adults?

We offer all kinds of programs throughout the year. Please check our calendars and the Activities & Programs page for current offerings.

What is there for Teen Rec Members to do?

Play tennis, pool, ping pong, basketball, gaga ball, badminton, pickleball, kan jam, disc golf golf, and use our rebound board to practice soccer. Play board games and video games, watch movies, help prepare snacks, and hang out with friends. Other activities and trips are scheduled throughout the year, like holiday parties, tournaments, pizza nights, trips, and more.

 

Who can come to the Center's Teen Rec Program?

Our members are youth aged 12 to 18 living in the Boquet Valley Central School District. See the Teen Rec Membership page for more information.

 

Can kids from other towns come to the Center's Teen Rec Program?

Yes, but only as a guest of a member.

 

How do I become a Teen Rec Member?

You have to schedule an appointment with the director. It takes about 30 minutes. We review our rules and ask you and your parent or legal guardian to sign our contract as proof that you both understand them. A parent or legal guardian MUST be present at the interview.

 

What does Teen Rec Membership cost?

Nothing!
